1. The World Wide Web (also known as “the Web”), the document system (or web pages) interconnected by hypertext links, available on the Internet.
2. WorldWideWeb, the first web browser, later renamed Nexus.
3. A web page, document or information source, usually in HTML format and which may contain hyperlinks to other web pages. This website may be accessible from a physical device, an intranet, or the Internet.
4. A website, a set of web pages, typically common to a domain or subdomain on the World Wide Web.
5. A web server, a program that implements the HTTP protocol to transfer what we call hypertexts, web pages, or HTML pages. This name is also given to the computer running this program.
6. The Web 2.0, a term coined by Tim O’reilly2 in 2004 to refer to a second generation of the Web based on user communities and a special range of web services, such as social networks, blogs, wikis or folcsonomies, which encourage collaboration and the agile exchange of information among users.
7. The Web 3.0, a term first published in 2006 in an article by Jeffrey Zeldman, a web 2.0 critic and associated with technologies such as AJAX. There is currently considerable debate about what Web 3.0 means, and what the correct definition is.
